About Workday

Workday, a market leader in people-first enterprise software, is a cloud-based system that puts control in the hands of employees and managers.

Workday provides an agile solution that meets Waterloo’s unique HR management requirements. It simplifies Human Resources (HR) transactions and minimizes paper processes, while giving managers more visibility into their workforce and employees easy access to payroll, benefits and other personal HR information. With a focus on continued improvement, we will engage campus throughout implementation to ensure Workday is designed to serve the University better.

Workday is used by hundreds of corporations and higher education institutions. A full list of clients can be seen on Workday's website.

Why Workday?

When the current version of PeopleSoft expired in 2018, the University sought out a human resources management system that would support the TRiP program objectives. After a Request for Proposal in 2016 explored options that could improve the HR client experience, Workday was rated the highest among evaluators from HR and Information Systems & Technology (IST), and chosen with feedback and participation from the University community. The agile system can be customized and will meet the evolving needs of the University.
