Understanding the vacation balances of your staff

We have highlighted and defined the critical columns from the UW CR Staff Vacation Balance Report below.

Term Definition
Unit of Time (in hours)

Vacation is tracked in hours in Workday. For example, 1 day of vacation equals to 7 hours for an  employee working the standard 35-hour work-week.

Beginning balance

This is the beginning balance of vacation for the current vacation period for your direct reports

Carryover from previous year

Your direct reports can carryover a maximum of 2 weeks of unused vacation from the previous year.

Vacation taken as of effective date

The amount of vacation your direct report has already taken or booked in workday up until the effective date of the report

Remaining vacation as of effective date The amount of vacation your direct report has left in Workday up until the effective date of the report
