Public Writing – Turning an Academic Paper into a Blogpost Workshop with Elise Vist and James Skidmore

In June 2020, the Writing and Communication Centre and the Waterloo Centre for German Studies teamed up to host a live webinar on public writing. The webinar focused on ways that writers can transform their academic writing into a blog, allowing them to reach audiences beyond their peers or professors. The live webinar was recorded, and is now available as an asynchronous workshop for students who were unable to attend the live webinar.

In this workshop, Elise Vist and James Skidmore walk you through the process of turning your academic writing into a blogpost. Whether it be a seminar paper, journal article or conference presentation, reconstructing your academic writing into a blogpost can help garner a diverse public audience. The workshop includes time for you to work on editing your academic papers for a broader audience. You are encouraged to bring in your seminar essays, conference papers, or any other piece of academic writing you'd like to work on.
