Rock Your Thesis 1: Plan Your Project

The first in the three-part 'Rock Your Thesis' series, this workshop will help you clarify your direction and develop a practical plan for successfully executing a large academic writing project, such as a thesis or dissertation.

This hands-on, interactive session has four key objectives:

  1. Conduct a dissertation investigation to identify the kind of thesis you are expected to write based on your degree and discipline. This process will help you build a strong foundation early in your degree, so you can begin writing with greater clarity, confidence, and relevance to your academic goals.

  2. Identify key thesis submission milestones to help you effectively plan your writing, stay on track, and successfully defend your thesis within your anticipated timeline for degree completion

  3. Identify effective project planning strategies, such as SMART goals and timeline-based planning tools, to help you manage your thesis writing.

  4. Create a personalized thesis writing timeline tailored to your unique academic journey—one that you can continuously revise and refine as you progress toward thesis submission and degree completion

This workshop is ideal for Master’s and PhD students who are nearing the completion of their coursework—or have just finished—and are looking to take a proactive, structured approach to planning their thesis or dissertation writing.
