What is happening?
The folder redirection setting for undergraduate students will be changed so only the Documents folder will be redirected to the file server files.student.math.uwaterloo.ca. The Desktop and AppData folders will no longer be redirected to the file server. This applies when signing in to windows.student.math.uwaterloo.ca and the labs with Windows desktop computers (Finance Lab, Bloomberg terminals).
When is this happening?
The change will take effect on April 29, 2024
What is the impact?
The Desktop and AppData folders will no longer be redirected to the file server. Files saved on the Desktop may not be available when a user signs in to different computers. Application settings in the AppData folder will no longer synchronize across computers.
Who is impacted?
This affects undergraduate students who sign in the to teaching remote desktop servers, Finance Lab and Bloomberg desktop computers.
What do you need to do?
Do not save files on your Desktop. Save files to your Documents folder instead so they are accessible from any of the computers.
