Thanks in large part to our co-op program and the efforts of our alumni and researchers, the University of Waterloo has a strong reputation as a global research-intensive university, renowned for entrepreneurship, innovation and experiential education.
February is Black History Month. At the University of Waterloo, this is a time to honour the achievements of Black innovators, including UWaterloo alumni, and to refresh our commitment to supporting emerging Black leaders.
Our university community is always looking forward — to the next step in a solution, to a new application for technology, to a brighter future. Recently, I’ve been looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
We have a lot in store for 2024: institutional changes, new community members and lively festivities.
When you think about a university community, you may picture a campus of students walking to classes, faculty members giving lectures and researchers crunching data in a lab. This is certainly part of a university community, but it doesn’t give you the entire picture. Our communities include passionate alumni, forward-thinking industry partners, and generous supporters — whose connections span across borders, countries and continents.
On November 7, 2023, UWaterloo alumni and supporters gathered in Toronto for a dinner and discussion about this vision, and how we might shape our technological future.
Our world is changing — in so many ways. At the University of Waterloo, we have a history of adapting and innovating for the world’s current needs. Recently, our community gathered through multiple events to explore the many ways that technology is changing, and how that might improve lives.
On October 12, alumni entrepreneurs and business leaders gathered in Miami to learn about the future of the technology sector and how the University of Waterloo’s strategic vision could play a role.
Libraries are much more than places to borrow books or read newspapers. The libraries at the University of Waterloo are hubs that bring communities together to learn and support each other, while furthering the University’s mission to generate and share knowledge.
Much has been said about the University of Waterloo’s bold culture. What makes this culture possible? There is one element we don’t speak about enough: support.
