The Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) - a partner of Waterloo.AI, organized a roundtable workshop on “Artificial Intelligence, Global Governance and International Public Policy”. The Institutes Co-Director, Fakhri Karray and members, Jatin Nathwani, Jesse Hoey, Joel Blit, Kate Larson, and Jason Lajoie participated in the workshop.
Professor Joel Blit from the University of Waterloo has recently been featured in an article published by the Toronto Star. Joel talks about federal wage subsidies costing taxpayers $188,000 a year for every job saved, and how he thinks we should try a different approach.

Pearl Sullivan, former Dean of Engineering at Waterloo and one of the greatest supporters for the AI Institute has passed Saturday, November 28, 2020. The Waterloo AI Institute mourns her passing as she was among the first who recognized the importance of launching the Institute jointly with the faculty of Math and with participation from other faculties at the University.
