Summative Teaching Assessment Working Group (SWG)

The SWG is dedicated to developing recommendations on how to use teaching assessment data for summative purposes. This includes reviewing research, previous consultations, and experiences from other institutions to ensure equitable and effective teaching assessment practices.

Mandate

The group formed in Fall 2024 and is tasked with drafting recommendations that will guide performance review committees, tenure, permanence, and promotion committees, as well as faculty members and instructors. These recommendations will consider various sources of assessment data, such as peer reviews of teaching, Student Course Perceptions (SCP) surveys, graduate student supervision, APR/BPR reports and teaching dossiers.

Reporting

The SWG reports to the Associate Vice-President, Academic.

Membership

The group consists of faculty members with significant experience in performance review, Faculty representatives, and delegates and resource members from relevant offices.

Meeting Frequency

The SWG aims to meet twice monthly for six months to fulfill its mandate.
