Call to Order

President, Hoang called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m.

Reports of Officers

President

  • President, Hoang reported on the by-election. Vice-President of Education is an open position that students in the Faculty of Health can apply for. There will be five days for nomination (which is underway), followed by a three-day campaign period, finally elections will be open for two business days. President, Hoang will go over the CRO position in more detail with Mohamed. 
  • President, Hoang reported on the LinkedIn Headshot Event in the absence of a VP Education. The event will be held on Wednesday Jan. 19 from 10am-2p.m.. JOEY, Mundh will be creating the sign-up sheet. President, Hoang added that we will be accepting walk-ins. 

VP of Internal Affairs

  • VP, Kang reported on mandatory exec office hours. Outlook calendar invites have been sent out and received. 
  • VP Kang reported on the JOEY program. The final JOEY selection process calendar has been completed. The interview questions will be the same as F24. After interviewees are selected, a word doc will be shared with them to book a timeslot. VPs and directors can choose to interview more than three candidates if required. 

VP of Events

  • VP, Chowdhury reported on the Lady Glazed food truck event. Set-up volunteers were needed and selected during the meeting. Execs are reminded to bring their laptops to their shifts for signing in students and tapping WatCards. Office hours will be closed during the event.

VP of Finance

  • VP, Liu reported on the budget. Valentine’s day chocolate and EOT event have been added to the expense spreadsheet. AHSUM merch values will be changed as needed due to the WStore managing the majority of the sweater sales. 

Directors 

  • Director, D’Angelo reported on the Content Calendar. Stamp cards will be posted Jan.21 along with an associated story post. Possibility for a ‘How to get there’ story post for the lady glazed event. 
  • Director, D’Angelo discussed coming up with different engagement strategies such as making reels (e.g., events or Day in My Life”) or other forms of content to boost viewership of the AHSUM Instagram. Giveaway for Valentine's day goodie bags (potentially with a rose sale) on Thursday will need to be added to the content calendar for Friday the 7th. 
  • President, Hoang reported on Warm-up Wednesday. Tea, hot chocolate, and coffee will be catered to the office and set-up on a small table in the lounge. The beverages will be free of cost to faculty of health students. 3 event stamps should be given to students who attend the event three Wednesdays in a row. Promotions will done by JOEY, De Costa following the event details being shared by President, Hoang. 
  • Director, Akkerman reported on services. A snack restock has been completed and no updates have been made to the services. 
  • President, Hoang reported on sweaters. Exec sweaters will be purchased by President, Hoang (free). They can be picked up by individual exec member or picked up by President, Hoang and distributed amongst the execs. The style will be white sweaters with black embroidery. For regular program sweaters, the W-store will do preorders and students will have two weeks to submit an order. Once each design has 24 pre-orders then the production can start. 
  • Director, Patel reported on EDI. A meeting will be held next week to discuss the upcoming project.

Representatives

  • Rep, Yang reported on Kinesiology. The head of the KHS committee was contacted however did not present much new content. The next council  meeting is set for the end of January. 
  • Rep, Sheik reported on Rec and Leisure. The department is facing budget cuts and will be removing upper year courses with low enrollment. The department is planning to introduce a collaboration with UAE high schools for a sports management certificate earned over a week at UWaterloo. Concern has been raised by the staff over students being hurt or offended by the material discussed in lecture and professors potentially being hesitant to change their teaching styles only to accommodate these students 
  • Rep, Jeyaganesha reported on SPHS. The department is considering getting rid of cluster requirements and opening up seminarl courses for enrollment. The department is also questioning the validity of short-term absences and an amendment that only if a student is severely incapacitated, will they be able to miss a deadline.  
  • President Hoang reported the timeline on Faculty of Health sweaters is around next month. Updates to be provided next meeting.
