The Internship Program of the Biostatistics Training Initiative (BTI) places top Master's level graduate students in Biostatistics and Statistics from the University of Waterloo into eight-month internship positions in cancer research centres across Ontario. Four fully funded intern positions are made each year which are held from May to December. There are several stages to the establishment of a placement, beginning with the submission of a proposal from potential mentors. Starting in 2017, proposals from potential mentors will be assessed by the BTI Internship Steering Committee based on
- the alignment of the research program with the Strategic Plan of OICR
- the training environment and existing infrastructure
Proposals passing this first stage will be posted for students to consider.
Also starting in 2017, at most one proposal will be posted for each potential mentor. Examples of previously successful proposals from mentors are accessible by the link on the left of this page, under 'Previous successful internship proposals'. Additional information including application deadlines and fillable forms for prospective mentors to complete are also accessible by the link on the left. Application instructions for interested students may be found at 'Prospective interns'.
