Biography summary

Jim Bookbinder is a Professor in the Department of Management Sciences, and the Director of the Waterloo Management of Integrated Manufacturing Systems (WATMIMS) research group at the University of Waterloo.

He previously served as President of the Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS) and as Chair of the Transportation Science and Logistics Section of INFORMS. Prior to joining UWaterloo, Dr. Bookbinder was a part-time Lecturer at the University of Toronto, and also had approximatively 10 years of industrial experience.

Dr. Bookbinder has research interests in applied operations, logistics and inventory management, and modes of transport and transportation systems. His research has allowed him to work with different industry leaders, such as the Canadian Tire Corporation, CN North America, Ford Motor Company of Canada, General Motors of Canada, Revlon of Canada and Toronto Transit Commission. In addition to his research work, Dr. Bookbinder also wrote the book Handbook of Global Logistics: Transportation in International Supply Chains, as well as several articles regarding business and transportation management.
