STV 306: Biotechnology and Society. Offered in the Fall 2022 term. Features small class size! Fun for the bio-curious! Discussion oriented! No technical knowledge needed! This course is a CSE List A and List C elective! Prerequisite is enrollment in 3A term or later, or a previous STV course or permission of your friendly instructor Cameron Shelley at cshelley@uwaterloo.ca. Potential topics include bioethics, bioweapons, de-extinction, genetic enhancement, cloning, biopiracy, GMOs, bioterrorism, personal genetic testing, doping, privacy, eugenics, designer babies, DNA dragnets, sport, genomics, justice, biohacking, in-vitro fertilzatation, biodefence and biosecurity.
