Melina Nazifi
Biography
Melina Nazifi was born in Iran and earned her B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, where she graduated as the top-ranked student in her class. In Spring 2024, she began her MASc studies in Transportation Engineering at the University of Waterloo, focusing on sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Her current research investigates the use of microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) for subgrade stabilization in transportation systems. By combining laboratory experiments and computational modeling, Melina aims to enhance the mechanical performance and durability of subgrade soils while reducing environmental impacts.
During her undergraduate studies, Melina gained hands-on experience in materials research and modeling, working on projects involving hydrological systems and advanced engineering materials
