Mennonites, Technology, and the Possibilities for PeaceTech
Waterloo region is home to many Anabaptist-Mennonites who work as designers, engineers, and scientists—thus they engage with technology as creators as well as consumers and citizens. How does faith inform this work? How might their reflections on the ethical questions posed by rapid advancements in technology be shaped by both their faith and vocation?

Join a conversation with Paul Heidebrecht, the Director of the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement at Conrad Grebel University College, and Lisa Schirch, the Richard G. Starmann, Sr. Professor of the Practice of Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame to explore these and related questions.
Paul and Lisa both serve on the steering committee of the Council on Technology and Social Cohesion, a global effort to address the question: What if technology fostered trust and collaboration instead of driving polarization and violence?
This conversation will be facilitated by Paul Okoye, an adjunct professor at Grebel, and the director of HR Advisory Services at McLean & Company where he specializes in AI and Digital Transformation. Like Paul Heidebrecht and Lisa Schirch, Paul Okoye is also a Grebel alum.
