Celebrating an impactful decade of peacebuilding
The Kindred Credit Union Centre of Peace Advancement turns 10 years old on September 21, 2024, the International Day of Peace. Since its launch in 2014, the Centre has been committed to promoting peace locally and globally. To celebrate a decade of innovative peacebuilding, the Centre’s team will be hosting a celebration at Conrad Grebel University College from 3-6 PM for participants, partners, stakeholders, and supporters past and present.
The Centre of Peace Advancement has become a hub for a diverse community of researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, students, artists, and activists working together to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Indicators of the Centre’s impact in catalyzing collaboration include the successful co-location of 8 affiliate organizations, 32 startups in the incubator, over 20 art exhibits, and paid internships for over 200 students.
As the Centre for Peace Advancement staff team notes in the 10th anniversary booklet that will be shared at the event:
We have been inspired by the individuals who have been part of the Centre for Peace Advancement because they regularly provide us with glimpses of how peace can prevail in our world despite the myriad of injustices and conflicts that are all-to evident every day. We look back on the past ten years with gratitude, and look forward to the years to come with hope.
This anniversary is an opportunity to reconnect and reminisce with old colleagues, hear from influential speakers, enjoy refreshments and engage in meaningful conversations. Throughout the afternoon, you’ll get the chance to listen to a series of short talks from people who represent the various facets of the CPA’s story, from the Grebel Peace Incubator, Core Collaborator organizations, Grebel Gallery, UWaterloo ecosystem partners and the CPA’s transformational partner, Kindred Credit Union. There will also be interactive conversation stations to spark discussion and reflection on our collective journey, the CPA’s impact and its future.
Attendees are encouraged to register in advance to assist with catering.
