Tech for good at Grebel and beyond
Centre for Peace Advancement participants featured prominently in the Fall 2022 issue of Grebel Now.
Centre Director Paul Heidebrecht contributed a feature article on the growing momentum of the tech for good movement.
The issue also highlighted some of the many Grebel alumni who are using technology to better the world, including several familiar faces to the Centre for Peace Advancement community:
- Jared Baribeau, former CTO at Demine Robotics (past Grebel Peace Incubator participant), who is now a Systems Architect at Smartex.ai in Portugal
- Neil Brubacher, former PeaceTech Living Learning Community Peer Leader, who is now pursuing a Masters degree in Systems Design Engineering at Waterloo
- Joseph Tafese, former PeaceTech Peer Leader and engineering lead at ESGTree (current Grebel Peace Incubator participant), who is now pursuing a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Waterloo
- Grace Wright, former CPA Communications Assistant, Project Ploughshares intern, and PeaceTech Peer Leader, who is now the Business Development Manager at GeoMate (current Grebel Peace Incubator participant)
Emma Kirke, current PeaceTech Peer Leader, CPA contract writer, and Grebel MEDA team member, also contributed a reflection on how Grebel’s PeaceTech Living breaks down disciplinary siloes at Waterloo.
