Local Climate-Resilient Buildings Tour
Step beyond the classroom and experience climate-ready building design firsthand. Waterloo students from all disciplines are welcome to join the Waterloo Climate Institute for a guided bus tour of innovative low-carbon, climate-resilient buildings in the local community.
Throughout the tour you will hear from experts, explore real-world solutions, and discover how the built environment in Waterloo Region is adapting to a changing climate. Whether you're studying architecture, engineering, planning, accounting, environment, or simply curious about climate solutions, this field experience offers a unique opportunity to connect theory with practice.
This field trip is open to students from all faculties and free of charge, lunch included. Faculty members are also welcome. Space is limited. Registration is required.
By the end of the tour, participants will be able to:

Identify low-carbon and climate-resilient design features in different types of buildings and explain their purpose.

Have an informed conversation about how building design can respond to local climate risks while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and meeting other community needs.

Reflect on climate-ready design principles and processes that can be applied more broadly within the built environment.
