The University of Waterloo's Sustainable Futures Initiativebrings together the Water Institute, Waterloo Climate Institute, and the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy to catalyze holistic approaches to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on the interconnections between energy, climate and water. The launch of the initiative will be held on Monday, September 19.
About the event
The initiative's launch event will feature a keynote address from Catherine Abreu, Executive Director of Destination Zero. She will speak about how the transition to a low-carbon future can support broader sustainability goals as well as the evolving role of universities and science in this transition. Following this, attendees will have a chance to learn about the current and future activities the initiative is pursuing to unlock solutions for greater impact.
