IC3 member Jason Thistlethwaite joins CBC host Laura Lynch on the new CBC Radio podcast What on Earth. In the episode "Will climate change make us retreat from the waterfront?" Jason shares his expertise on flood risk management in Canada. He discusses opportunities for government policies and management strategies to address climate change.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5th, 2020, the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change and Water Institute co-hosted an evening event, “Ideas to Shape the Future: Fighting Climate Change", at THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener. This event was part of THEMUSEUM’s exhibit “ALARM: Responding to Our Climate Emergency”. Seven institute researchers shared their insights and big ideas on tackling climate change at the individual, community, and global level.

Climate change is having a growing impact on winter tourism. With warmer temperatures on the rise, the ski industry is seeing less snow and skiiers are spending fewer day on the slopes.
Waterloo’s Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation and the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change are partners in the collaboration and will work closely with the institute to achieve its objectives. IC3 member and head of the Intact Centre, Blair Feltmate, will be a member of the new institute's Adaptation Expert Panel.

Jason shares his expert opinion on the emotional toll of climate change research, the solutions to mitigate climate anxiety, and how to cope and feel empowered to take action.
In December 2018, IC3 and the Univeristy of Waterloo sent six students to the 24th Session of the Conference of the Parties (“COP24”) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). COP24 was held in Katowice, Poland, bringing togeher international leaders to discuss climate change and the next steps in implementing the Paris Agreement.
