Municipal Climate Adaptation Certificate - Launching in January 2026
The University of Waterloo's Climate Institute is developing a three-part micro-credential course to support municipal staff in climate adaptation planning and implementation. Designed for municipal employees in multi-faceted roles wanting to integrate climate adaptation into planning and action projects.

The courses offered are (available in English and French):

Micro-credential 1: Climate Risk & Adaptation Foundation - Online 8 -10 hour course with synchronous and asynchronous content, self-paced activities, and reflections.

Micro-credential 2: Applying Climate Adaptation in Municipal Roles - Online 8 - 10 hour course with synchronous and asynchronous content, self-paced activities, and reflections. Participants choose one or more of the following specialization courses:

Micro-credential 3: Learning to Action Mini-Capstone - Pre-requisite course Micro-credential 1 and 2. In-person or online 20 hour course. Two options for engagement:

In-person Capstone: 3-day in-person course at the University of Waterloo.

Remote Capstone: Synchronous and asynchronous content, self-paced activities, and reflections.
