A team of Waterloo students representing the School of Accounting and Financial, including one student from Computing and Financial Management (CFM), competed Friday, March 6 at the Canadian Regional Finals in the University of North Carolina’s Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) held at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. The team took top honours, winning the undergraduate division.
For
the
competition,
students
sat
in
on
presentations
given
by
three
local
companies
seeking
funding.
Each
student
team
then
conducted
due-diligence
sessions
with
each
of
the
companies.
They
made
a
Partner
Pitch
to
help
support
investment
in
one
of
the
local
Venture
Capitals.
Five
universities
from
across
Canada
participated
in
the
competition.
The
students
greatly
enjoyed
the
competitive
experience
and
meeting
like-minded
students
from
other
Canadian
universities.
