Does this tool result in added costs for the technology, support systems, training, upgrades?

Functionality

Is this tool scalable? (Can it be used by many users?)

Does this tool have an easy-to-use interface?

Is there good technical support available for the tool?

Social presence - Does the tool provide flexible options for interactions such as avatars, photos, selection of pronouns, etc.?

Does the tool have a responsive design (i.e., support for mobile, multiple browsers and computer types)?

Inclusive and Equitable Are there known biases and harms associated with the tool? Do strategies exist to reduce or remove them?

Accessibility

Does the tool meet accessibility AODA standards or are alternatives/work arounds available to ensure the tool is barrier free?

Technical

Can the tool be integrated with LEARN?

Does the tool work with any standard up-to-date operating system?

Cognitive presence

Facilitation - Does the tool enhance an instructor’s ability to be present with learners?

Customization - can the tool be customized to suit the classroom context and learning outcomes?

Does the tool enhance a learner’s engagement in cognitive tasks?

Does the tool facilitate learner engagement in higher order thinking skills?

Metacognitive Engagement - does the tool provide opportunities for formative feedback on learning?
