Creating, managing, storing and publishing video content
The creation of video and audio assets within the University’s academic and administrative environments has grown over the past decade with the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly increasing this growth. These assets are being produced for events, course materials (academic and professional development), lecture capture, student assignments and/or assessments, presentations/webinars, meeting recordings, marketing and promotion, research studies and field work, library media collections, and many other activities. These assets are created with various security permissions by faculty, staff, and students and are currently stored in many locations, depending on the creator, the tool and who requires access.
Objectives of this work
- To provide a platform for managing audio and video files from creation to expiration of content.
- To automate many of the tasks in creation, posting, sharing of video content.
- Allow for video capture from agnostic client platforms (e.g., PC/Mac, Zoom, Teams, tablets, Webex, etc.).
- Enable configurable workflows for various use cases that will provide processes for ingestion, minor editing, network-smart delivery, access control, smart search, retention, and other stakeholder-defined functions.
- To provide a sharable and searchable space for the audio and video collections to maximize the value of these assets.
Work plan
The team's work will primarily be driven by consultations with key University stakeholders. A consultation schedule will be made available once confirmed.
