Future Engineering students

Shadow Days and on-campus Engineering Tours are not currently available due to pandemic safety protocols.

To get in contact with an Ambassador, prospective students are encouraged to fill out an EngChat request or send an email to any ambassador with a profile.

How can our Ambassadors help you?

Each of our Ambassadors have a profile that you can read through to learn more about what they enjoy about their program, their co-op experiences, and any extra curricular activities they participate in on campus.

Feel free to contact any of our ambassadors, using the contact information on their profiles, with all your Waterloo Engineering questions!

Experience a day-in-the-life of a Waterloo Engineering student by requesting a Shadow Day with one of our ambassadors. Applications are open during regular classes, typically beginning two weeks after the start of each term (September, January, and May).

Note: Shadow Days are currently not available due to COVID-19.

Visiting the Waterloo campus? Take an Engineering tour with one of the Ambassadors! This tour allows you to focus on Waterloo’s Engineering faculty, its facilities, programs, and student life. You’ll learn about labs, classes, and extracurricular activities — all from the perspective of a current student. To book a tour, please fill out the tour request form.

Note: Tours are currently not available due to COVID-19.

Can't make it to campus? Fill out an EngChat request and you can be matched with one of our Ambassadors for a video or voice call. We currently support Skype and Google Hangouts. This is a great opportunity for prospective students to connect with a current engineering student and ask questions!

Take our quiz to determine which engineering program is right for you!

All Waterloo Engineering programs are direct-entry - what this means is that there is no general first year. You'll start your studies within a specific field of engineering from day one. If you're unsure where to start or what program your interests align with, we've built a program compatibility quiz tool for you to use! Here's how you can use it:

Number 1 Icon

Take the quiz

The quiz tool will take you through a series of 14 multiple-choice questions. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes to complete.

Number 2 Icon

Review your results

The tool will show you your results in order of compatibility. Meaning your #1 result is your most compatible program and #15 is your least. Here you can find small blurbs describing each program, plus you'll have the ability to compare our programs with one another.

Number 3 Icon

Focus your research

Now that you have a starting point, we'd suggest looking further into your top 3-5 engineering programs to learn more about them. You can find a ton of great, more detailed information on each discipline here on the engineering website as well as on the Future Students website.
