This page provides some answers to some of the frequently asked questions that we get about the ENV Makerspace.
Who can use the Environment Makerspace?
Undergraduate, graduate, staff and faculty within the Faculty of Environment are able to use the makerspace for university related projects.
Do I need WHIMS even if I only want to use one machine?
You must complete WHMIS even if you want to use one machine. WHMIS is a requirment for anyone who wants to access makerspace equipment.
Do you provide course support?
Yes, however please submit a ticket through Jira to get in touch with the Makerspace Manager to check for availability.
Are tools available to sign out?
Select tools are available to borrow, this includes the Insta 360 camera and the Arduino starter kit. If you have any additional question please submit a ticket.
What are the cost for the use of materials?
Plastic and wood materials that are going to be used in the makerspace can be purchased from the online web store. Scrap wood material are also available at the makerspace. Until further notice, Cricut materials are free to use for course and research support.
What are the hours of availability?
Students can access the makerspace during business hours.
Do you run workshops for students?
The ENV Makerspace runs events throughout the year for students. Some events run in the past include birdhouse making, cutting boards, and string art. Keep your eye out on the ENV Makerspace homepage where events are posted.
