Congratulations to Niloofar Eftekhari and Mazin Oheil Khalati for defending their PhD theses!
Niloofar's defence occurred on June 20th, 2025. Her thesis discussed the effects of feedstock powder characteristics, processing, and post-deposition heat treatment on cold-sprayed copper alloys. Her goal was to improve the mechanical properties (e.g., ductility, strength) of heterogeneous materials containing hard and soft alloys.
Mazin's defence ocurred on July 28th, 2025. His thesis presented a novel solution to welding magnesium car parts by cold-spraying nickel or titanium as an intermediate layer. Ultimately, this research aimed to lighten vehicles and reduce carbon emissions due to energy expenditure.
