From Dr. Hamid Jahed:
I am excited to announce that our Canadian Alliance in Cold Spray Technology (CACST) has been awarded a prestigious grant totaling close to $20 million!
A sincere congratulations to all CACST members for their dedication and hard work in achieving this incredible milestone:
- Prof. Yolanda Hedberg (Western University)
- Prof. Ali Dolatabadi (University of Toronto
- Prof. Adrian Gerlich (University of Waterloo)
- Prof. Bertrand Jodoin (University of Ottawa
- Prof. Verena Kantere (University of Ottawa)
- Prof. Gobinda Saha (University of New Brunswick)
- Prof. Ehsan Toyserkani (University of Waterloo)
- Prof. (Ruth) Jill Urbanic (University of Windsor)

This grant, which includes just over $8 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI); over $8 million from the provinces of Ontario, New Brunswick, and Quebec; and close to $5 million in institutional funds and industry in-kinds, is a testament to the outstanding research and collaboration within our alliance.
With this funding, Canadian universities will be able to maintain their position as world leaders in the development of Cold Spray research by establishing pan-Canadian state-of-the-art infrastructure dedicated to fundamental research, spanning from powder to intelligent 3D printing. Our focus will encompass the development of functional coatings, advanced material consolidations, and 3D additive manufacturing.
Congratulations to all involved! A heartfelt thank you goes out to our diligent Research Office administrators at our universities for their tireless support and dedication to the success of CACST initiatives. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all of our industrial partners for their invaluable support in making our initiative a success.
We look forward to advancing the field of Cold Spray technology together.
