Fracture and fatigue analyses of brazed joints using damage coupled Cohesive Zone Model
Many engineering technologies require the use of components consisting interfacial joints which are inevitably subjected to cyclic loading during service time. In recent years, there have been many research interests in establishing Cohesive Zone Models (CZM) which are capable of failure analysis of interfaces far beyond limitations of the conventional fracture mechanics. The purpose of my current research is to adapt a CZM for failure prediction of adhesively bonded Magnesium sheets which necessitates the adherent material to be characterized as well. The outcome of this research will be directed to the reliability study of the adhesive bonds used in light weight automotive structures.
