Luke Wu

BES Honours Student

Research Interests

My name is Luke Wu, a 4th-year Honours Thesis student in the Bachelor of Science Program in Geomatics at the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of Waterloo. I am taking my GEOG 490A and 490B honours thesis course under supervision of Professor Jonathan Li at the Geospatial Intelligence and Mapping Lab starting the Spring 2025 term. My research interest is to use the Large Language Models (LLM) and the Google Earth Images to investigate wildfires along the Canada’s Westcoast. The objective of my thesis study is to generate wildfire boundary maps that helps people immediately see the approximate size and location for a given fire and to provide deeper insights for areas impacted by an ongoing wildfire using Google Earth Engine.
