Research Interests

My research interests include topics in environmental earth science and urban planning, in particular, applying the techniques of GIS, LiDAR point-cloud data processing, and image processing, to improve the management of natural and urban settings. I am keen to acquire expertise in computer vision and deep learning; for example, combining remote sensing and deep learning-based applications to capture and analyze the usage of urban land, in order to monitor land-use change, and generate solutions for risk prediction, disaster management, transportation planning, and infrastructure management.

My research will focus on the AI-based approaches to urban land-use and land-cover classification, using multispectral airborne LiDAR point clouds and images. Deep-learning algorithms will be investigated to handle large-volume, city-wide point clouds and image data, to allow urban land-use and land-cover mapping. The end-product is a geographically accurate and detailed 3D representation of the urban environment.
