Jennifer Clapp, a Canada Research Chair in Global Food Security and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Environment, has been awarded the 2018 Innis-Gérin Medal from the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). The biennial award, presented by the RSC, honours a Canadian scholar for their distinguished and sustained contribution to the literature of the social sciences.

We’re excited to announce that the 2018 CUT Award has been awarded to Caitlin Scott from the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability. The award honours Caitlin's commitment to implementing feedback for the continuous improvement and development of her teaching, her thoughtful approach to assessing student learning, and the practice of reflection that she regularly brings to her work as an instructor.

The School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability is pleased to share Professor Jennifer Clapp is the recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award of the Environmental Studies Section of the International Studies Association. The award recognizes outstanding scholars whose long history of excellent research and teaching has had substantial impact on fields associated with international relations and environmental issues.

Jennifer Clapp has a new publication in Sustainability Science as a Special Feature in the journal’s discussion on sustainable landscapes. It is now available under Open Access from the publisher.

Her article examines the complex dynamics of distance in the global food system, and discusses the impacts on local agricultural landscapes.
