Postdoctoral scholars at the University of Waterloo are a vital component in supporting the overall intellectual strength of our institution. They play an active role in planning for and carrying out Waterloo’s research programs, build alliances and intellectual bridges to other institutions and provide mentorship to our students. In return, Waterloo offers postdoctoral scholars a supportive infrastructure and mechanisms for advancing their goals. 

Successful scholars will:

  • Access resources and contribute to the efficacy from the Office of Indigenous Relations and the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-racism (EDI-R).
  • Advance the research agenda that is transformative and of societal importance
  • Contribute to, and benefit from, an evolving community of scholars whose diversity of perspectives and lived experiences contribute to a more inclusive, and enlightened, University community
  • Explore new opportunities for application of research and commercialization, leading to new entrepreneurial ventures;
  • Receive mentorship from University of Waterloo’s exceptional researchers and industry leaders;
  • Play an active role as mentors to students and young scholars;
  • Explore new opportunities for application of research and commercialization, leading to new entrepreneurial ventures;
