Event ran from September 19-23, 2022
As a thank you for all of your hard work as a valued postdoctoral fellow, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) was pleased to offer postdocs the opportunity to pick up a free gift: a custom postdoc UWaterloo water bottle. Supplies were limited and went fast this year, but keep an eye out for future postdoc events and remember that each of you is a very important postdoc to us!

Postdocs joined the University of Waterloo Senior Administration, including James Rush (Vice-President Academic & Provost) and Jeff Casello (Associate Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs), to kick off our week of celebrations! There was coffee, treats, and an opportunity for postdocs to connect with their peers. Check out photos from the event:
Event was held Tuesday, September 20, 4:00-5:30 pm
Postdocs were encouraged to grab some basic watercolour paint supplies, their partner and/or kids, and log in for a special virtual postdoc paint night class, led by local artist Candice Leyland. During the session, participants learned to paint Fall Leaves in watercolour. All skill levels were welcome, including absolute beginners!

Postdoc career advisors from the Centre for Career Action (CCA) hosted a virtual lunch-and-learn. In this workshop postdocs were introduced to a few career strategies to help you make the most of your time as a postdoc at UWaterloo. Attendees also learned how the Centre for Career Action can help support you in your career development.

Event was held Thursday, September 22, 12:00-1:30 pm
Facilitated by the Writing and Communication Centre, this webinar offered an overview of key steps in the publication process. Attendees learned how to identify a target journal, approach revising their manuscript and responding to reviewers’ comments, navigate copyright and licensing issues, and make their research more easily discoverable through the use of an ORCID iD.

Postdocs joined us at the Graduate House for "Happy Hour" with University representatives, including University of Waterloo's President and Vice-Chancellor, Vivek Goel and Jeff Casello, Associate Vice-President, GSPA. The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
