Introducing the Community Leadership Certificate

Friday, February 2, 2024

Bridge gaps and break barriers with the Community Leadership Certificate (CLC). Learn to build trusting relationships, foster collaboration and become a curiosity-driven leader.

CLC workshops are "made by students for students." They offer conversation-based approaches to anti-oppressive and community-centred leadership with four sequential workshop:

  1. Foundations of Collaborative Leadership (FCL): find your authentic leadership voice with leadership architypes and explore what it means to be a community-focused leader.

  2. Leading with Curiosity: learn to use curiosity as a tool for cultivating anti-oppressive leadership practices grounded in intersectionality and positionality.

  3. Collaborative Team Building: embrace unlearning. Examine the historical evolution of professional hierarchies and adopt strengths-based approaches to enhance equity within your team. .

  4. Harm Reductive Communication and Conflict Resolution: empathically navigate conflict by incorporating Harm Reduction and Restorative Justice frameworks into your toolkit.

What’s after the workshops?: Complete 10 leadership hours in either paid or volunteer positions and a guided reflection.

When should I start CLC?: We recommend undergraduate students start in second or third year and graduate students in their first year.
