International Webinar Host

Opportunity type: Employment type: Rate of pay: $17.20 (Hourly)

Nature and Scope: 

Each year, the International Student Experience team hosts a series of virtual events within Waterloo Ready to help incoming international students feel prepared for their transition to UWaterloo life and Canadian culture. There will be four (4) Get Canada Ready webinars in 2025. 

Hosts must be available for all four (4) virtual events, dry runs and team meetings. Webinar hosts will also be featured on the Student Spotlight page of the International Student Guide and will be required to complete one student takeover on the @UWaterlooLife Instagram account during their contract. 

We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic international undergraduate students to be hosts for this webinar. 

Special Job Requirements:    

  • This position is open to international undergraduate students, who hold a valid study permit. Consideration will be given to students who are Canadian Citizens that have spent most of their lives outside of Canada, recent newcomers (Permanent Residents) and other populations who may identify as having similar experiences to international students. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Writing a 20 minute script 

  • Sharing stories about your time at Waterloo 

  • Delivering engaging live presentations 

  • Public speaking 

  • Interacting with an online audience 

  • Answering live questions verbally and through writing 

  • Acting as a welcome ambassador for incoming international students 

Qualifications: 

  • Ability to perform naturally on camera 

  • Excellent presentation skills 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills 

  • Excellent organization and time-management skills 

  • Must be fluent in English 

  • Must have a positive attitude  

  • Must be able to perform under pressure with tight deadlines 

  • Preferably have experience with social media live hosting, acting, or public speaking 

  • Passionate about helping other international students navigate life on campus and in Canada 

  • Open to sharing personal stories 

  • Applicants must be in good academic standing to be considered for the role
