Update on Waterloo-Indonesia Collaboration

Today – Wednesday, 22 September – the University of Waterloo’s Daily Bulletin ran a feature story outlining recent collaborations between Waterloo and the Government of Indonesia (and Indonesian institutions).  The story can be found here.

‘Thank you!’ to the Daily Bulletin for publishing this story, and we look forward to continuing – and growing – our meaningful connections with our valued partners in Indonesia in the future!

Waterloo International (WI) recently collaborated with Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) to showcase the University of Waterloo’s academic and research strengths, including graduate studies opportunities, to prospective graduate students and other stakeholders, from Latin America and Egypt.

Waterloo International welcomes the return of Ian Rowlands, PhD, associate vice-president, International.

Dr. Rowlands’ scholarly activities during his 2020 sabbatical focused on energy sustainability and internationalization in higher education; for the latter part of this work, he had an affiliation with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) as a Special Advisor.

The University of Waterloo and the University of Strathclyde are jointly hosting a virtual research colloquium, expected to provide an interactive space for graduate students from the participating universities to present their research and receive constructive feedback from international scholars in their respective fields.

International Week 2020 is a collaborative effort, organized by a wide array of departments, units and student groups at the University of Waterloo, with coordination by Waterloo International. We hope you were able to attend some of the events, learn from these experiences or share some of your activities with others and that you enjoyed participating in these events!

Thanks to everyone who has participated in International Week 2020 (IW) so far this week. To date, numerous campus partners from across the University of Waterloo have hosted events that highlight the value of multilingualism and intercultural understanding in today’s globalized world and there are many more events planned for the rest of the week.
