Congrats to Maxwell Bui-Marinos for receiving the first place student oral presentation award at the North American Comparative Immunology Workshop! 

Max presented his MSc research titled "Pre-treatment with poly(I:C) confers partial protection against Frog Virus 3 in two permissive Xenopus laevis skin epithelial cell lines".

This is the second time that Max has won first place in an oral presentation competition. Well done Max!

Quinn Abram defends their MSc thesis!

After a successful battle with the AV equipment, Quinn Abram regaled an eagar (and plentiful) audience with his MSc research on "Effects of low temperature on endogenous antigen presentation in two fish species, Onchorhynchus mykiss and Sander vitreus".

Congrats to Quinn Abram for receiving the 2018 A. Murray Fallis Prize for best student oral presentation in the Parasitism, Immunity and Environment (PIE) section of the Canadian Society of Zoologists!

This past week, Quinn attended the CSZ meeting in St. John's, Newfoundland and delivered an excellent oral presentation on his MSc work titled "Regulation of Endogenous Antigen Presentation in Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Cells at Suboptimal Temperatures".

Welcome to Sumayyah and Leo!

The Katzenback lab welcomes Sumayyah and Leo to the lab!

Sumayyah and Leo are doing their honours thesis projects in the Katzenback lab over the Fall 2017/Winter 2018 semesters. 

Congrats to Maxwell Bui-Marinos for receiving the Murray Fallis Prize for best student oral presentation in the Parasitism, Immunity and Environment (PIE) section of the Canadian Society of Zoologists!

Maxwell gave an outstanding talk titled "Xenopus laevis skin epithelial cell lines differ in their molecular signatures and response to treatment with poly (I:C)", which he conducted as part of his MSc thesis.

Welcome to Joseph Varga!

The Katzenback lab welcomes Joseph Varga to the lab. Joseph completed his MSc at University of Guelph and joins the Katzenback lab as a PhD student.

Congrats to Charley Peitzmeier for receiving a grant for Research Studies Abroad from the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes)!

Charley is a visiting scholar from University College London and is currently doing a research project on wood frog immunity in the Katzenback lab.

Charley is a visiting scholar from University College London and is currently on leave from her Masters of Undergraduate Science degree in order to pursue a 10 month research opportunity in the Katzenback lab. Charley will be working on wood frog innate immune defence mechanisms.
