attended
the
High-level
Political
Forum at
the United
Nations
Headquarters
in
New
York
from
July
8-9,
2018.
On
July
8,
Elaine worked
with
the
Women's
Major
Group
(the
UN's
formal
stakeholder
group
for
women's
interests
globally)
to
review,
edit
and
finalize factsheets,
policy
recommendations
and
priority
speaking
points
related
to Sustainable
Development
Goal
6
- clean
water
and
sanitation
for
all.
On
July
9,
Elaine
formally represented
women
around
the
world,
sitting
in the
Women's
Major
Group's seat
during
the opening session
of
the
General
Assembly. Later
that
afternoon,
she presented
an
intervention
calling
for accountability
and
public
participation
throughout
the
High-level
Political
Forum
and
other
processes
related
to
the implementation
of Agenda
2030
(including the
Sustainable
Development
Goals). Her intervention
was
presented
during
a
side
event
co-hosted
by
the United
Nations
Department
of
Economic
and
Social
Affairs
and
the
Major
Groups
and
other
Stakeholders
(the
collective
title
for
civil
society).
