Lake Futures PI Nandita Basu is leading a group of guest editors on an upcoming Special Issue of Environmental Research Letters, titled ‘Focus on Legacy Effects of Land use and Management on Water Quality and Ecosystem Function’.Over decades, human activity has led to a build up of sediment, nutrients, and contaminants in the landscape. Agricultural intensification, resource extraction and urbanization have all contributed to legacy stores across the landscape, hidden in soils, groundwater, streams and lake sediment. Such legacies of past land use continue to impact water quality today. This special issue of Environmental Research Letters focuses on both science and policy issues related to the effects of these legacies on water quality.
Submissions to this Special Issue will be accepted until September 10, 2020. Additional details can be found in the call for submissions.
