On October 8th, Human Resources hosted the second annual Continuous Improvement (CI) Project Showcase for employees of the University. The showcase had over 12 booths represented by multiple departments within the University of Waterloo in addition to other local institutions, Conestoga College and Wilfrid Laurier University.
The CI Project Showcase was presented in a “science fair” layout and provided campus employees with a unique opportunity to learn more and explore how different groups are using CI tools and methodologies to achieve efficient processes and outcomes in the workplace. In addition to CI, there were multiple booths that represented the importance of change management within continuous improvement and displayed change management frameworks and models used within their respective teams. Held in the Science Teaching Complex (STC), the showcase offered employees an accessible, centralized venue to engage and participate in several interactive booths and demonstrations, and learn how different departments are utilizing CI tools and methodologies.
The project showcase was attended by more than 200 employees. Departments who showcased CI projects included Human Resources, Optometry, Admissions and Records team in the Registrar’s Office, Co-operative Education, Information Systems & Technology (IST), Institutional Analysis and Planning (IAP), and the Centre for Career Action (CCA). Additionally, representatives were present from Wilfred Laurier University and Conestoga College which provided a diverse selection of projects/initiatives all geared towards practical CI applications.
