LeanHE Community
In September 2015, the University of Waterloo hosted the Lean in Higher Education (LeanHE) Conference, welcoming Lean HE enthusiasts from around the globe. We have been a member of the LeanHE community since the conference. Marilyn Thompson, Associate Provost, Human Resources at Waterloo, chaired the Americas chapter within the international Lean Higher Education network of universities from 2015 to 2017. The LeanHE community aims to support continuous improvement in the Higher Education sector to best support employees, students, faculties, and researchers.
LeanHE Canadian chapter
While the LeanHE network fosters global collaboration, it is also comprised of multiple chapters, or Continental divisions, such as LeanHE Americas, LeanHE Europe, and LeanHE Asia Pacific. These chapters were created to further support universities that may be facing similar challenges in their regions.
The University of Waterloo’s Internal committee has taken on an initiative to launch the inaugural LeanHE Canadian chapter. This chapter will focus on connecting with universities and colleges within each province, who are interested in Continuous Improvement. LeanHE Canadian chapter goals are in alignment with the LeanHE Global strategy, and would foster:
- Promotion CI knowledge sharing and lessons learned between Canadian Universities
- Providing networking and mentorship opportunities
- Offering training programs to expand on CI tools
We will share more information on the development of this chapter over the coming months. If you would like to stay informed on all CI news, events, and opportunities, complete this quick form to share your contact information with us.
