CHEM 120 :: Physical and Chemical Properties of Matter
The first semester of introductory general chemistry. Topics include the stoichiometry of compounds and chemical reactions; the properties of gases; periodicity and chemical bonding; energy changes in chemical systems; the electronic structure of atoms and molecules and its correlation with the chemical reactivity of common elements, inorganic and organic compounds.
Term: Winter 2011
Classes: DC 1350, MWF 10:30-11:20am
CHEM 212 :: Inorganic Structure and Bonding
An introduction to the principles of chemical structure and bonding, with emphasis on their application to inorganic systems. Topics include atoms, orbitals, and periodicity; localized bonding models; symmetry and group theory; and molecular orbital theory. The subjects treated in this course are foundational components for advanced studies in all branches of chemistry.
Term: Winter 2009
Classes: MC 2035, MWF 10:30-11:20am
Tutorials: RCH 110, T 1:30-2:20pm
CHEM 310 :: Transition Metal Chemistry
An introduction to the molecular chemistry of the transition elements, covering basic aspects of structure, bonding, physical properties, and chemical reactivity. Emphasis will be given to the conceptual and theoretical foundations that underlie and unify these topics.
Term: Fall 2010
Classes: MC 4040, MWF 10:30-11:20am
