Four projects have been selected to receive a 2025-26 Staebler Insurance OER Fellows Grant from the Libraries. The program offers competitive grants of $5,000 each to instructors to help create or adapt an open educational resource (OER) for a UWaterloo course.

The Libraries and the Faculty of Engineering are collaborating to provide School of Architecture students, faculty and staff with self-checkout options in order to expand access to the Musagetes Architecture Library and its resources beyond library service hours.

The Libraries are adjusting opening hours for our two main campus locations, Dana Porter and Davis Centre, for spring term as part of the University’s work towards financial sustainability.

If you’ve been to the Doris Lewis Reading Room in the Special Collections & Archives (SCA) recently, you may have noticed something new. A Tremaine Map of Upper Canada circa 1862 now hangs prominently on one of the walls. 

Restoring history

Donated in 2009 by Jon Dellandrea, a former VP of University Development at Waterloo, the map needed extensive restoration work before it could be made available for researchers.

ORCID pilot project update

The two-year pilot project exploring a campus-wide approach to implementing the use of Open Researcher and Contributor Identifiers (ORCID) has reached a midway point. 

As the snow settles on the ground, covering Mother Earth with that protective blanket, we two-leggeds respond by settling into our lodges, and welcoming the warmth of connection and family that envelopes us. For Anishinaabe, biiboon/winter is the season for sharing stories.
