The Librarians’ and Archivists’ Association of the University of Waterloo supports the statement put out by FAUW on March 21 calling for the University to keep vaccine and mask mandates for the Spring term.
Over the past year and a half, the Librarians’ and Archivists’ Association of the University of Waterloo (LAAUW) has been evaluating affiliation with the Faculty Association of the University of Waterloo (FAUW). A vote was held in late March 2021 and our membership decided against seeking FAUW affiliation.
LAAUW sent the below copied letter to Ana Serrano, President of OCADU, and cc'd a number of OCADU officials.
The Librarians’ and Archivists’ Association of the University of Waterloo unequivocally stands by our Laurentian University (Laurentian) colleagues in demanding better. We echo the expression of solidarity for our colleagues at Laurentian put forth by the Faculty Association of the University of Waterloo (FAUW).

We are writing on behalf of the Librarians’ and Archivists’ Association of the University of Waterloo (LAAUW) to express serious concern for our membership, our Library staff colleagues, and support staff across campus following Waterloo leadership’s decision to “maintain business and administrative operations during this period of uncertainty.”
