Pengyu Nie

Dr. Pengyu Nie is an Assistant Professor at the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science, University of Waterloo. He completed his Ph.D. in 2023 and his M.Sc. in 2020 at The University of Texas at Austin, where he was advised by Professor Milos Gligoric. He received his B.Sc. in 2017 from the University of Science and Technology of China.

Dr. Nie's research focuses on enhancing software developer productivity across the entire software lifecycle, from development to maintenance and testing. At the University of Waterloo, he is expanding this research to integrate software engineering with machine learning and natural language processing. His current work includes investigating the training and inference of machine learning models that are already being applied within the field of software engineering.
