Roberto Guglielmi
Dr. Guglielmi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. He previously held postdoctoral fellowships at the FGV - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; GSSI - L'Aquila, Italy; RICAM - Linz, Austria; ICL - London, UK and University of Bayreuth, Germany. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics at University Tor Vergata of Rome, Italy, jointly with a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the University of Lorraine - Metz, France.
His research addresses problems in control and optimization of large-scale dynamics, described by ordinary or partial differential systems of evolution, with applications to the optimization of utility distribution over networks, heat transfer phenomena in the presence of crack and fractures, control of epidemics, reinforcement learning methods. He is currently a member of the Technical Committee 2.6 - Distributed Parameter Systems - of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC).
