Sujaya Maiyya
Before joining the University of Waterloo, Dr. Sujaya Maiyya completed a brief postdoctoral fellowship at Cornell University. She received her Ph.D. from UC Santa Barbara, where she was co-advised by Amr El Abbadi and Divy Agrawal.
Dr. Maiyya’s research interests span distributed systems, databases, data privacy, and security. Her work focuses on designing, prototyping, and evaluating protocols that efficiently and securely manage large-scale data. Currently, her research group is tackling challenges in various aspects of oblivious databases, including tunable privacy, scalability, fault tolerance, and support for relational queries. She is also developing platforms that enable the private execution of genomics algorithms using trusted execution environments
