Ph.D. student

Pelin completed

Pelin Tan
her undergraduate studies in Biology & Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University and her Masters in Cognitive Neuroscience at Queen’s University. She joined the lab as a PhD student in 2019. Pelin is interested in intentional forgetting: the forgetting of irrelevant (e.g., old high school locker combination) or unwanted (e.g., memories of breaking up with a partner) information on purpose to declutter memory. Currently, she is working on several projects to understand the cognitive mechanisms of intentional forgetting and how intentional forgetting aids in information moving from working memory to long-term memory. She is also interested in applying intentional forgetting to concepts such as artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction.

In her free time, Pelin runs a small wedding calligraphy business, and loves hunting for the latest cuisines of Kitchener-Waterloo.
