Ph.D. Candidate

Seyed Ali Hosseini Farahabadi
Seyed-Ali joined the QNC-MBE research team in February 2022 to develop high-performance Sub-THz and THz sources with applications to communications, imaging, sensing, and spectroscopy. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in electrical engineering from Isfahan University of Technology (IUT), Isfahan, Iran, in 2016 and 2019, respectively. During his M.Sc. study, he was working on designing high-performance metasurface antennas for millimeter-Wave and THz emerging applications and received first-class honor from the ECE department. In May 2019, he joined the Centre for Intelligent Antennas and Radio Systems (CIARS), University of Waterloo, as a Graduate Research Assistant, where he was focused on the design, fabrication, and characterization of on-chip THz biosensors for early cancer diagnosis.

Ali’s research interests include multidisciplinary areas of electromagnetic wave propagation and radiation, antennas, metasurfaces, THz technologies, and other emerging topics on applied electromagnetics and nanotechnology.
