Postdoctoral Fellows

Dr. Rotem Paz — Dr. Rotem Paz is a Lupina Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow affiliated with the Department of Psychology at the University of Waterloo and the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest, supervised by Dr. David Moscovitch and Dr. Brian Levine. Her work sits at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience and psychotherapy, examining how autobiographical memory shapes self-schemas and how mental time travel interventions can update them. Her current research applies the schema-congruent and incongruent learning (SCIL) framework to imagery rescripting in social anxiety, and extends this work to loneliness in older adults through a randomized controlled trial at Baycrest's Kimel Centre. With Dr. Levine, she examines how individual differences in imagery style contribute to the development of psychopathology and shape who benefits from imagery-based treatment. Rotem is a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist (licensed in Israel) and an EFT therapist.

Graduate Students

Van Bui — Van Bui is a PhD student in clinical psychology at the University of Waterloo. She is currently interested in understanding how excessive reassurance-seeking impacts those with social anxiety.

Sophie Kudryk — Sophie Kudryk is a PhD student in clinical psychology. Her research investigates the role of mental time travel in the context of social anxiety. She is seeking to identify key maladaptive mental time travel processes in autobiographical memory that are related to the maintenance of social anxiety and examine whether and how they can be interrupted to facilitate self-schema change and downstream benefits for emotions, motivations, and behaviour.

Jennifer Fudge — Jennifer Fudge is a PhD student in clinical psychology. Broadly, she studies the role of schemas and autobiographical memory in social anxiety disorder. Currently, she is interested in exploring whether sleep quality supports memory-based interventions for updating maladaptive schemas in socially anxious individuals.

Lucia Di Censo — Lucia Di Censo is a master's student in clinical psychology. She is interested in exploring the outcomes of positive autobiographical memory retrieval, with a particular focus on nostalgic and self-defining memories, for individuals with social anxiety and chronic loneliness. Older adults are a specific population of interest for Lucia and she hopes to investigate how autobiographical memory retrieval strategies can be optimized to best reduce loneliness in this age group.

Research Assistants

Giselle Kraus — Giselle Kraus is the research coordinator for the Moscovitch Lab on Social Anxiety and the Self as well as the UWaterloo Self-Attitudes Lab. She completed a BA in Psychology and MSc in Psychiatry at McGill University, and previously worked as a research coordinator at hospitals in Toronto and Montreal.

Sara Al-Uqaili — Sara Al-Uqaili is a research assistant in the Moscovitch Lab. She completed her BSc and MASc in Psychology at the University of Waterloo. She is interested in how cognitive and emotional processes contribute to social anxiety and how interventions can be optimized to target them.
